About the Author

Fletch founded Minot in March 2002. He has over 10 years' experience architecting and developing software, with considerable experience developing solutions for a wide variety of computing environments. As Chief Technology Officer, Fletcher is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all Minot client application and programming needs.

Prior to Minot, Fletch served as Senior Engineer within the enterprise storage software industry, including Neartek, Sun Microsystems and HighGround Systems. At Neartek(now part of EMC), Fletch helped engineer the database systems used to implement tape virtualization in heterogenous backup environments, developed the emulation software for the IBM 3592 tape drive (resulting in Neartek's receipt of the IBM Total Storage Proven certification) and the software interface for the Quantum M1500 tape library system. While with Sun Microsystems, he was responsible for enterprise software development including architecting large-scale storage resource monitoring software. These solutions were deployed on Windows and Unix server platforms running Oracle, Sybase and MS SQL database servers. Additional experience includes developing client-server based CRM systems, Palm OS applications and conduits, Internet/Extranet based applications and scientific imaging software.

Before his career in software development, Fletch spent 10 years dedicating his life to bench-top Neuroscience research. He co-authored several articles published by the Society for Neuroscience, the scientific journal Nature, and the Cold Spring Harbor Symposium for Quantative Biology. Fletch also co-authored a patent for a sustained release drug delivery vehicle capable of delivering a therapeutic protein to peripheral nerves in-vivo. His love for programming grew from this research, mainly as a result of his need to tweak image analysis and signal processing software available in the late 1980's (written in Pascal in those days!).

Fletch holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and attended the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
